Final Thoughts
When interviewing for a new job, it is easy to get excited about the possibilities and forget that the hiring manager is only interested in hearing about how you will be able to help their organization. Any negative statements about your current or previous employer can make it appear as if you are not committed to success or that you may bring problems from your last job with you to this one. Avoid discussing why you left your old job, what you didn’t like about your old company (especially if it was something like low pay), or anything else that could indicate unhappiness or potential issues in the future. Even if they ask why you want to leave, do not criticize your current employer. Instead give examples of where your current position doesn’t challenge you enough and why this new opportunity presents greater potential for growth.
